Inside a Gold Casting Day: From Wax Tree to Mirror Shine

2026-05-09

The day starts with wax trees — dozens of delicate wax models attached to a central sprue, ready to become gold. Each tree is invested in plaster and fired until the wax burns away cleanly.

Molten gold pours into the cavity in a flash of heat and noise. Hours later the cooled tree emerges, and each raw casting is clipped free for cleanup.

Filing, assembly, stone setting and three stages of polishing follow. By evening, dull grey castings have become mirror-bright pieces ready for quality control.
